Member Parliament (MP) Adams Kipsanai, has initiated a Ksh. 7 million university scholarship to benefit 35 students from the Keiyo North National Government Constituency Development Fund.
Speaking during the launch event held at the Iten sports ground, the MP mentioned that the students carefully selected from each of the four wards in the county are to benefit and pursue professional courses such as engineering, medicine, pharmacy, and law, among others.
Kipsanai emphasized the broader vision, stating that these budding professionals aren’t just being trained to serve their local community but are also being groomed to compete nationally in service to the nation.
He further urged the scholarship recipients to recognize the sacrifice made by the local community, as these funds could have been allocated to other critical projects.
“Don’t squander this opportunity,” he implored.
Moreover, Kipsanai announced that mentors from various professional fields had been identified within the sub-county to guide and support the students throughout their academic journey.
He emphasized that their performance, both academically and in their conduct, would be closely monitored.
“Each one of you will today sign an agreement with the NG-CDF committee committing yourself to the conditions you are supposed to meet, key among them good performance. You will be required to bring your results to the NG-CDF office at the end of every semester,” he said.
Additionally, he pointed out that any decline in performance or unbecoming behavior could lead to disqualification from the scholarship.
The MP of Moiben Prof. Phillis Bartoo also emphasized the need to manage their newfound freedom responsibly while on campus.
She further cautioned against the pitfalls of vices such as drug abuse, which have tragically derailed the lives of many young individuals.
