The Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu has announced that the Government has designated 30 acres of land in Mavoko, Machakos County, for the establishment of a Major Production Unit at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).

Speaking during 29th graduation ceremony at KISE, the CS noted that this initiative is set to revolutionize the production of assistive devices for learners with disabilities.

Additionally, he said that the Government has issued an eviction order to individuals who have encroached on the allocated land.

This directive follows recent demolitions at another contentious government-owned site in Mavoko, affecting over ten families.

“Those in violation must vacate immediately or face potential forceful removal,” Machogu warned.

He further emphasized the need to rectify encroachments on the allocated land to fulfill the Institute’s intended purpose.

“This initiative will bridge the existing gap in the repair and maintenance of assistive devices and technologies nationwide,” the CS stated.
