3-day TVET@100 celebrations finally here after 3-month countrywide torch tour

Governor George Natembeya holds the TVET torch@100 as it came to Trans Nzoia. The relay climaxes in celebrations in the last 3 days of this month at Kabete National Poly.

The Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centenary celebrations slated to take place at the close of this month will be held at Kabete National Polytechnic.

In a conference announcement made by the ministry and seen by Education News, the conference will be held on July 29- 31, 2024 guided by the theme “If Education is Key to Employability then TVET is the Master Key.”

July 12 has been marked as the deadline for submission of abstracts, which should be between 250-300 words as date 19 of the same month is the deadline for the submission of full papers, which should not exceed 3, 500 words.

Consequently, July 23, 2024 is the deadline for submission of power point slides.

Among the participants include the East African students and the region’s non-students who will be required to pay Ksh2,500 and Ksh4,000 respectively if they register for the event on or before July 10, and Ksh3,000 and Ksh5,000 for normal registrations.

For participants who reside outside East Africa, they will be required to pay USD140 on or before July 10 and USD 150 as the amount for normal registration.

The exhibition fees for the conference is Ksh100,000, with those interested in it required to submit soft copies in MS Word with a line spacing 1.5, font size 12 with a reference format of APA. The paper for exhibitions must be submitted and presented in either English or Kiswahili.

Among the key areas that the conference seeks to address include industry-driven curricula, linkages and collaborations for quality and relevant CBET, digital transformation and emerging technologies for employability, green technologies that address climate change and environmental sustainability, and making CBA system effective for the implementation of CBET and RPL.

The TVET sub-sector has been around for a century now, with the now famous TVET Torch relay symbolizing its successes ever since March 26 when President Ruto set it off at Nyeri National Polytechnic.
