270 adult learners in Mombasa county will sit for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) as private candidates.

Speaking to Education News from Mombasa town recently, the county Director of Adult Education, Mr. Franklin Karanja urged all adult education teachers to ensure no examination irregularities are recorded.

He noted that cheating was a serious offence that could lead to arrest and cancellation of examination results.

Mr. Karanja asked teachers, candidates and other adult education stakeholders to cooperate fully so as to make the examination process a success.

At the same time, he urged parents to enroll their children who dropped out of school in Standard Six and Form Two to literacy centers near them to continue with their education.

The move, he noted, would enable them to sit for both Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations respectively.

The Director stated that the county’s rapid development needed educated people who will be charged with the responsibility of designing, planning and implementing community development projects.
