Twenty-two students from Elgeyo Marakwet, supported by the county government’s PEPEA program, have successfully landed in Australia for their studies.

Governor Wisely Rotich revealed that these students have now commenced their education at the esteemed Cambridge International College (CIC) in Melbourne.

Rotich further announced an additional ten students traveling to join their peers, elevating the total number at CIC to an impressive 32 students.

“Discussions have been initiated with Torrens University, reflecting the county’s commitment to exploring more scholarship opportunities for students hailing from the region,” he stated.

Additionally, Rotich emphasized that fostering collaborations with foreign universities remains a priority, aimed at providing students from Elgeyo Marakwet with access to education abroad at subsidized fees.

“As part of this initiative, Laurea University in Finland has already commenced the interview process for students intending to pursue nursing degrees at the institution,” he announced.

The Governor also noted that this engagement aligns with the memorandum of understanding signed with four universities, further expanding educational horizons for the county’s residents.
