Faith Ndanu, a 14 year old girl who sat her KCPE exams last year but is yet to join high school, is appealing for help from well-wishers.
Ndanu scored 322 marks at Bread of Life Primary School and got selected to join Our Lady of Mercy High School in Shauri Moyo but couldn’t due to lack of fees.
She revealed that the pastor who sponsored her primary school education passed on immediately after she sat for her KCPE exams and that since then, she has never received any help to enable her to continue with her education.
Ndanu, who lives with her 57 year old mother in Kasuitu slums in Machakos county, said her hopes of joining high school and later pursuing her dreams are diminishing.
Her mother Syombua Nzomo, who collects and sells plastics to earn a living, noted that efforts to get help have borne no fruits.
Her other daughter, a student at St. Augustine Secondary School in Mlolongo, has been at home since the beginning of term two due to lack of fees.
“I had to borrow money to pay for uniform and stationery for my lastborn, a Junior Secondary School student at Kasuitu Primary School. It pains me to see my daughter sit at home yet her peers are in school,” she said, further asking for help to even fend for the children at home.
