2019 Form Four candidates begin their KCSE

More than 669,745 form four candidates have started their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.

There will be a very tight security to avoid cheating in the exams. Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha said that he was aware of Homabay , Migori and Kisii parents who had contributed 200,000 to buy exam papers.

KNEC together with security agencies will ensure the exams are conducted with utmost integrity.

The first day of the examination started with the students sitting for their Functional Writing Skills at 8.am then English composition and later Literary Appreciation and Grammar test

There was a road accident at Longonot along the Maai Mahiu –Naivasha highway where one of the centre managers died.

The deceased is a head teacher at Rev Jeremiah Gitau Secondary School she was going to the get examination materials at the Naivasha container. Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner said that the exams materials were delivered to the affected schools

Nakuru County Education director Lawrence Karuntimi said that the candidates who gave birth will sit for their examinations with minimum distractions in various hospitals.

A candidate began his examinations with a wrong photo printed on his desk.  He is a private candidate at Njenga Karume Secondary in Molo and the name together with the index was also wrong. Molo Subcounty Deputy director of Education Vincent Rono said the error will not prevent the student from sitting for his exams

County Chief Administrative Secretary for interior Patrick Ole Ntutu in Narok asked the teachers and security forces to be on the lookout. “ We are here on behalf of the president, he is watching and must make sure the exams are safe and secured,’’ he said

There was an increase of 506 candidates sitting for the exams this year as compared to last. County Director of Education Philip Wambua said that there are 8209 candidates sitting for the exams in Narok and the number of girls had increased with 314 girls compared to last year.
