As the world celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day, 1500 school girls benefitted from a donation of sanitary packs from Makueni County’s First Lady Anita Mutula.

The dignity packs were meant to ensure that the learners will not have interrupted school days.

At an event that was held at Kiongwani Primary School, the First Lady noted that the 1500 were drawn from 15 schools in Makueni, the donation being a collaboration with the department of Gender, Children, Youth and Social Services, together with that of health service.

“We are targeting teenage girls to make sure that these biological conditions will not make them miss any class. Orphans, children with traumatic past and those with chronically ill parents will always get our first priority,” Mutula said. “We want to continue raising awareness and advocate the rights and dignity of those who menstruate and how to manage it without shame or stigma”.
