1,340 graduate at Ramogi as college excels in market oriented courses

A total of 1,340 Ramogi Institute of advanced technology students in Kisumu have graduated.

The students who graduated virtually due to Covid-19 restrictions secured higher national diplomas, diplomas, craft and artisan certificates in various fields.

The Principal Secretary State Department of Vocational and Technical Training Dr. Margaret Mwakima said that TVETs have been identified as channels through which youths can acquire skills.

Mwakima said in a speech that the quality of a nations’ education is seen to hold the key  to economic prosperity.

The PS said that TVETs plays a key role in the realization of the big four agenda and the vision 2030.

Mwakima said the ministry has put in a place a mechanism to regulate the institutions through TVET Authority formed in 2013 and the TVET Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council and the Kenya National Quality Assurance in 2014. Adding that, these efforts were reinforced by the creation of the State Department of Vocational And Technical Training in 2016 and the State Department of Post Training and Skills Development in 2018.

Mwakima said such effective vocational training reforms are paramount to the market with the skills that are needed for employment or self-employment.

Riat principal Maren Omondi said the college has been offering market oriented courses especially in engineering and electronics courses.

Kisumu West Mp John Olago commended the college for offering competitive courses.
