The programme is jointly funded by the KCB Foundation and the area National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF) office.

Interviews for the scholarship programme have already commenced at the institution.

Speaking during the start of the interviews, the institute’s Deputy Principal, Joseah Langat, said the scholarships target students pursuing five technical courses and assured applicants that the vetting process will be conducted in a free and fair manner.

“The scholarship is targeting trainees enrolled in five key courses, and we want to assure all applicants that the vetting will be transparent and fair,” Langat said.

Langat revealed that hundreds of youths applied for the programme, with the targeted courses being Automotive Engineering, Cosmetology, Motorcycle Repair, Fashion Design, and Food and Beverage.

KCB Foundation representative Richard Kirui said the scholarship is funded on a 50–50 basis.

“The foundation is contributing Sh2.5 million, while the area NGCDF office is providing an equal amount to make the total Sh5 million,” Kirui said.

He explained that beneficiaries will undergo three months of training followed by a three-month industrial attachment, after which they will be provided with tools of trade to enable them to start earning.

“The aim is to create employment and promote self-reliance among the youths,” Kirui added.

The sentiments were echoed by area NGCDF Manager Shaddrack Rotich, who praised the partnership, describing it as a noble initiative aimed at transforming the lives of young people in the constituency.
