Anglican Church of Kenya in Nandi has given out education scholarships to 12 secondary school students from vulnerable families across the county to help them realise educational dreams.

It also supported 12 business people from Kapsabet town who were hard hit by Covid-19 pandemic prompting closure of their businesses due to economic impacts.

According to Dr. Paul Korir of Kapsabet Diocese, the church came up with the initiative to support the two groups due to economic impacts caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and are grateful to God.

He added that the needy students from very humble family backgrounds were identified for the scholarship programme to enable them pursue their education and achieve their future dreams. He urged them to work harder so as to be in a position to help other needy people in future.

“We are grateful as a church for such great initiative and we call upon the beneficiaries to put more efforts in their studies for their betterment,” Korir said.

He was speaking when he awarded the scholarships to the beneficiaries at ACK Kapsabet. Nandi county commissioner, Mr George Omoding lauded the efforts of the Anglican Church in going the extra mile to assist the lowly in society, urging them to maintain the same spirit.

The County commissioner also appreciated the efforts of the church for cushioning the business people hit hard by Covid-19 pandemic, saying it is a good move that should be copied by others especially politicians and the county governments by setting aside funds to assist such groups.
