The Cabinet has okayed Phase III of the Kenya–China Project, intended to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country. A major component of the project is the development of instructors within the sector.
The initiative to be rolled out soon aims to “equip 70 Technical and Vocational Education and Training colleges with state-of-the-art training equipment.”
This will ensure good delivery of competency-based training.
The Cabinet noted that the project will “train 1,190 instructors,” thereby enhancing the capacity of TVET educators nationwide.

The initiative will focus on skills development in key sectors, with the Cabinet noting that it will “cover eight priority technical disciplines” aligned with labour market needs.
The Cabinet noted its support for “advancing human capital development under Vision 2030.”
The was reached during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at State House, Nairobi, chaired by President William Ruto.
Reaffirming policy priorities, the Cabinet stated that “priority investments target education,” positioning TVET instructors as central to workforce development.
