11 students of Kenyatta University perished today in a road accident when the bus they were travelling in rammed into a truck, killing them instantly.
The bus was ferrying students to Mombasa for an academic tour when the accident happened in Maungu area on the Nairobi –Mombasa highway, which is a few kilometres outside Nairobi City.
41 other students were critically injured and rushed to hospitals around the accident scene, while four others cannot be traced thus far.
Several accidents have occurred in the last few days involving students on various excursions outside their schools, the latest one killing a student and a teacher of Kapsabet Boys High School as the bus they were travelling in lost control on an unfamiliar road in Baringo.
