MOE to hold national conversation on Competency Based Education

The Ministry of Education, (MoE) will hold a forum for Competency-Based Education in Nairobi on Thursday this week.

The forum will be attended by Education stakeholders, including Regional Directors of Education, Regional Directors of Quality, county Directors of Education, all sub-county Directors of Education, among others.

In an invitation, Principal Secretary Prof Julius Bitok indicated that the one-day national conversation forum will collectively address the emerging issues and recommendations raised since the conclusion of their County Dialogues and chart a progressive path forward in implementing CBE.

The Ministry of Education is currently implementing the CBE to enhance the quality of education, improve skills development, and ensure that learners acquire the necessary competencies to thrive in a rapidly evolving global environment.

Competency-based education (CBE) focuses on competencies or what learners can do with the education they have received.

It is better suited to ensuring that education responds to the needs of society.
