PS lauds Moi Varsity for winning Sh600m funding

Higher Education Principal Secretary (PS) Prof. Colleta Suda has lauded Moi University for winning the World Bank funding to be the Africa Centre of Excellence (ACEII) in Phytochemicals, Textiles and Renewable Energy (PTRE).
Speaking after touring the university laptop assembling plant at Rivatex, Prof. Suda said the PTRE project is very unique and it goes to prove that the institution is a premier university.
“This project is very unique and I want to congratulate Moi University upon being selected after presenting a solid proposal to the World Bank”, said Prof. Suda.
The World Bank will fund the project to the tune of Sh600million.
Moi University Council Chairman Dr. Jeremiah Koshal thanked the Government for making the institution part of the great initiative.
Dr. Koshal added that the project will improve the region as a whole as far as the textile sector is concerned, especially with the impending injection of Sh3 billion into Rivatex by the Indian and Kenya governments.
Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro expressed confidence that the University will see full implementation of the project.
