County Govt blames State for delayed bursary funds

By Enock Okong’o.

The Kisii County Government has exonerated itself from the blame over the delayed disbursement of bursary funds to needy students in secondary schools.
The Deputy Director of Communications, Kenani Miruka shifted the blame to the National Government that he said did not release the Sh1.2 billion that was slated for the county to boost education development.
Kenani said that Kisii County Government had provided a budgetary allotment of Sh224 million to assist bright students from poor homes to continue with their secondary education but regretted the delay that had been caused by the National Government to fulfill its financial obligation.
The officer was reacting to a section of the Press where the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) Kisii branch, accused the County Government of not disbursing the money.
