Wind blows off roof of Marakwet school

By Dennis Bett.

Ten pupils at Kapkures Primary School in Marakwet West recently sustained injuries after strong winds destroyed their classrooms.
The afternoon strong winds blew off roofs of two classrooms forcing learners and teachers to scamper for safety.
Chebai Sub-Location Assistant Chief Daniel Kibor said the 10 were rushed to Kapcherop Health Centre for treatment. Out of these, eight were treated and discharged while two others, who sustained serious injuries, were referred to Kapsowar Mission Hospital for specialized treatment.
He said the strong winds destroyed the classroom’s roof and disrupted learning in the school, forcing the administration to seek other remedies.
Kibor appealed to local leaders to help repair the affected classrooms so that learning could resume.
Area MP William Kisang, promised to look for funds to repair the affected classrooms.
“We are preparing our candidates for KCPE and thus these children need urgent assistance,” Kibor said.
