The National Government has been challenged to disbursed capitation for schools in time to avoid disruption of learning.
Matayos Constituency Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Odanga has observed that head of schools went through hard time during Second Term after the government failed to remit all the money on time.
Odanga stated that the delay negatively affects the smooth running of schools.
“The government sent less than 40 per cent of capitation to schools last term and this left many heads in a very awkward situation. We don’t want a repeat and that is why I am calling on the government to release money on time this Third Term”, he said.
Odanga who sat in the Education Committee during the 11th Parliament, added that the government would be doing a big disservice to schools and learners if it will delay the funds considering that national examinations are done during Third Term.
“We would like teachers and learners to be given ample time to prepare well and have maximum concentration on the national exams”, said the legislator.
