Wajir East new MP Rashid Kassim has urged residents to support education projects in the area. He was speaking after he defeated Jubilee’s Abass Sheikh and immediate Principal of Wajir High School, Ahmed Mohamed in the elections.
Speaking to Education News on phone Kassim said he will ensure he fulfills his election pledges. “ I will make use of public resources like the CDF to support education projects,’’ he said, adding that he would ensure equitable distribution of resources at the local level to empower families to uplift their standards of living.
“We will also start water projects to end perennial water shortages that affect residents and livestock in the constituency. This will go a long way in resuscitating the livestock industry which is the backbone of local economy” he added.
Kassim also pledged to build an orphanage and ensure madrassa are paid monthly stipends. He said currently madrassa and duksi (Islamic school) work on voluntary basis.
