Professionals urged to give back to their schools

By Erick Nyayiera.

Professionals and elites from Gem Sub-county in Siaya County have been challenged to come back home and develop their local schools to enhance academic performance across the region.
Head teacher of Nyawara Primary School, Mr. Eric Odhiambo has pleaded with professionals and other locals to consider giving back to the community by ensuring they support their village schools by getting involved in the provision of learning tools.
The Head teacher was speaking during a book donation and tree planting exercise at his school courtesy of the President of Rotary Club Westland Nairobi branch, Mr. Felix Okach Owaga whom he lauded for the good gesture.
Mr. Odhiambo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Okach for the support and challenged other sons and daughters of Gem Sub-county to emulate his gesture. Okach also challenged his fellow Rotarians to consider supporting their village schools.
He lamented that the school is lacking sanitation facilities which should be put in place through concerted efforts.
Mr. Okach observed that there are very many sons and daughters of Gem who belong to various Rotary Clubs, and challenged them to use the opportunity of being in those clubs to develop their home schools.
