Urithi Housing Co-op to start Technical school

By James Wakahiu.
In a bid to diversify its products, Urithi Housing Co-operative Society will soon establish a Technical Training Institute to train members, staff and other Kenyans, the Society’s Chief Operations Officer, Geoffrey Kilonzo has said.
Addressing Nairobi members during a dinner party hosted at Safari Park Hotel in Kasarani, Kilonzo said apart from its core mandate of providing land and housing to its members, Urithi was now venturing into other products.
“We are venturing into Education, Agri-Business, Aqua-Farming industry and Hospitality
among other sectors,” Kilonzo told the more than 300 members who attended the dinner.
He said in the last five years, Urithi had provided land and housing to its members now standing at more than 25,000. He said Urithi’s over 1,500 labourers and other workers in housing projects will be trained at the Technical Institute to acquire relevant technical skills required in their work.
