New TTC to open doors in September

The only Teachers Training College in Nyamira County is expected to start enrollment in September this year.
Construction has commenced for the new college which will to be the only one in the county.
According to the County Director of Education, Mr. Nelson Sifuna, the college will initially admit 120 students and thereafter accommodate more than 1, 000 learners.
The Borabu Teachers Training College, as it will be known was initiated by local education stakeholders, led by area MP Ben Momanyi.
The institution’s Board of Management has been inaugurated.
The institution will be headed by Mr. Timothy Oboso while Mr. Andrew Nyanchoga becomes the chairman of the Board.
The college will start from borrowed premises before finally settling on a 15-acre parcel of land where construction works has started.
Recently, the area MP led a delegation of local leaders in a ground breaking ceremony at Kineni area where the institution will be sited.
The Borabu Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is financing the project at a cost of Sh20 million with the Ministry of Education also contributing an equal amount.
According to Mr Zablon Ouko who is in charge of the work, the constructions will take about 14 months to complete.
