54 students to miss KNEC exams after college failed to register them

By John Ochieng.

At least 54 students of Kenya Institute of Financial and Applied Management (KIFAM) Rongo Campus will not sit this year’s Kenya National Examination (KNEC) exams because they are not registered.
The candidates were not registered to sit the KNEC exams by KIFAM management.
The angry students claim they paid exam fees only to learn later that they are not registered as candidates with the examining body. They have launched complains at the Rongo District Education Office.
The students accused the college’s Director, Thomas Abwao for failing to register them.
They and have been preparing for the exams only to realize that they were not enrolled for exams.
The students have now called on the government and the Ministry of Education to come to their aid saying most of them come from humble background.
When contacted, Abwao confirmed that they have not registered the students since the students owed the institution a lot of money which he said, was to be recovered first before sitting for their exams.
