Teachers: Education system needs new infrastructure

Teachers have asked the government to provide a conducive learning environment in schools to ensure the newly rolled out education curriculum succeeds.
Kenya National union of Teachers (KNUT) western region representative on the National Executive Council (NEC) Emily Mito said most schools lacked learning facilities to implement it.
“The new curriculum (Curriculum Reform Pilot Study) has a lot of outdoor activities but most learning institutions lack grounds and facilities,” said Mito whose school, Timbito Primary school in Kakamega North sub-county is part of the pilot schools.
She however lauded the new curriculum stating that in will reduce tutors’ burden as learners mostly do practical work.
