Kilifi County Government will give away 1.8 million tree seedlings to schools and farmers for planting during the rainy season.
Kilifi County Government Director of Environment, Forestry and Natural Resources Elizabeth Sidi (pictured) said that 500,000 tree seedlings have already been distributed to schools, while 300,000 tree seedlings have been given to farmers for planting in the region.
The seedlings are provided by the county government, Nature Kenya and Komaza Kenya Limited.
She said the tree seedlings are obtained from the county tree nursery at Tezo Location in Kilifi North Sub-county. She urged school Board of Management chairmen to ensure that they plant more trees at their schools to enable pupils and students learn under conducive environments.
