Sh100m in bursaries disbursed in Nyamira

Nyamira County Government has disbursed a total of Sh100 million in bursaries to bright but needy students in the area.
Releasing the cheques to more than 20,000 beneficiaries, Governor John Nyagarama said his Government was determined to ensure all learners who come from poor backgrounds get access to education.
Nyagarama said his government has also employed over 2,000 ECDE teachers in all public primary schools and promised to recruit more to ease the shortage in some schools.
“Orphans were the major beneficiaries. Out of 551 applicants, we awarded each Sh10,000,” Nyagarama said.
Nyamira County Director of Education, Nelson Sifuna who attended the function which was held at Nyamira Uhuru Garden grounds thanked the County Government for assisting needy students.
