Teachers face sack over absenteeism

KWALE

County Director of Education, Sammy Kagiri (pictured) has warned teachers in the region against absenteeism from schools. He said the practice among teachers has contributed to non-completion of the syllabus in schools. The new director who was speaking to Education News in his office in Kwale town recently said anybody found absent from his or her work station without permission will face immediete sacking.
Kagiri attributed dismal performance in national examinations in schools in the area to frequent absenteeism.
He also cautioned teachers against excessive drinking of alcohol and drug abuse, saying the trend equally contributes to poor performance in national examinations by learning institutions in the area.
