High dropout rate of pupils worries govt

By Tsozungu Kombe.

Mombasa County has low education transition rate as many pupils drop out of school before completion, according to an official.
Assistant County Commissioner, Rashid Were said the low education transition rate is due to many pupils dropping out of school before completing Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
There are also many secondary school students who don’t complete their secondary education.
Were who spoke to Education News in his office in Mombasa town recently said the situation is worrying and urgent steps should be taken by all education stakeholders to address the matter.
He asked parents to offer equal educational opportunities to their children irrespective of gender.
