Primary teacher curriculum to be reviewed soon, says Education PS

By Eric Nyayiera.

The Primary Teacher Education (PTE) programme will soon be reviewed under the current education reforms.
Education Principal Secretary, Dr. Belio Kipsang said this will align it to the current curriculum just like in primary and secondary schools.
This, he said, will be achieved through retraining of teachers to provide them with skills and child centered approach.
Speaking during the 1st graduation ceremony of Ugenya TTC, Chief Guest, Richard Limo, the Nyanza Regional Education Coordinator who represented Kipsang congratulated the college for holding its maiden graduation after a struggle having started with a few infrastructural facilities.
The Regional Education Coordinator appreciated the enormous input by the Ugenya National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), noting that they have been the reason behind the successes of the college.
The ceremony was graced by among others Ugenya MP David Ochieng and Senior Principal Stella Sikuku.
Addressing the ceremony, the Principal noted: “We have been able to achieve the milestone in realizing our aspirations with regard to the TTC. We are happy today to host inaugural graduation ceremony which is a great achievement. ”
Siaya Deputy Governor Wilson Ouma Onyango also congratulated the graduands, stating that they are a product of hard work, perseverance and discipline.
