The County government plans to increase its bursary kitty by Sh40 million in then next financial year. Governor IssaTimamy said the move to increase bursary fromSh60 million to Sh100 is meant to give more students an opportunity to get funding and uplift their education standards.
The governor who was speaking in Lamurecently after issuing bursary cheques to some of this year’s beneficiaries said each ward will be able to get Sh10 million. The County has 10 wards and in the current allocation each ward gets Sh6 million. He said this year 1,108 students benefitted in the bursary allocation including 544 girls and 564 boys.
