Teachers told to ignore TSC order on weekend activities

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Nakuru branch has asked members to ignore new regulations on weekend activities in schools.
Executive Secretary, Mungai Muhia blamed Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer, Nancy Macharia for the directive and urged teachers not to attend sports activities on weekends.
“This is very unfair and no one should interfere with our free time,’’ he said amid cheers quoting Section 32 of the Constitution.
Muhia was addressing teachers at St. Peters’ Boys Primary School in Elburgon town during a teacher’s welfare meeting recently.
The KNUT boss also cautioned TSC against sending representatives to condole families of fallen colleagues, saying the employer should attend in person.
